Brooke Shields and Cary Elwes are spending the holidays with Netflix.
The duo will star in A Castle for Christmas, a new romantic comedy from the streamer. The story follows a famed American author, Sophie, who travels to Scotland and finds herself wanting to buy a castle, but the prickly owner, a Scottish Duke named Myles, is reluctant to sell to a foreigner. Working to find a compromise, the pair constantly butt heads, but along the way they just may find more than they bargained for.
Mary Lambert, the veteran filmmaker behind Pet Sematary and The In Crowd, will direct the feature, which is set to begin production in Scotland later this month.
Neal Dobrofsky and Tippi Dobrofsky, the scripters behind previous Netflix rom-com Holiday in the Wild, wrote the screenplay with Ally Carter and Kim Beyer-Johnson.
Brad Krevoy will produce, with Amanda Phillips Atkins, Steven McGlothen, Steve Berman, Katrina Stagner and Shields executive producing.
Shields was most recently seen in the final season of Jane the Virgin and Law & Order SVU. The Lipstick Jungle star is repped by UTA and Ziffren Brittenham.
Elwes, who worked with the streamer on the second season of Stranger Things, was last in theaters with Blumhouse horror Black Christmas and joined the third season of The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel. He is repped by APA, Michael Hallett at Emptage/Hallett, LINK Entertainment, Viewpoint and Patrick Knapp at Goodman, Genow.
