DreamWorks sets Rubin for ‘Rainbow’ ‘Wife scribe set for ‘Yomigaeri’ rewrite

DreamWorks has set Bruce Joel Rubin to script “Rainbow Bridge,” the English-language remake of the 2002 Japanese film “Yomigaeri.”
Rubin, best known for “Ghost,” most recently adapted Audrey Niffenegger novel “The Time Traveler’s Wife” into the Robert Schwentke-directed film.
“Rainbow Bridge” is produced by MPCA’s Brad Krevoy. “Yomigaeri” was based on the Shinji Kajio novel about a government official sent to a rural town after a child who has been missing for 60 years returns, having not aged.
Original scribe on “Rainbow Bridge” was William Nicholson. Krevoy is producing with Tetso Fujimura.
DreamWorks developed the project while at Paramount, and “Rainbow Bridge” was one of the plum properties that Steven Spielberg and Stacey Snider retained custody of when DreamWorks exited Par.
Rubin is repped by CAA.
