From consumers of programming to virtual co-creators. Early on, producers Michael Landon, Jr., Brian Bird and Brad Krevoy recognized the power of the fan base and did their best to fan the flames through social media. “This group of 31,000 fans is a disruptor,” says Bird. “I am convinced they are driving decision making about the future of this show.”
Krevoy says that social media has changed the game creatively. “The fans are demanding something, and then getting it, and because of that, they are rising as a social force. They have power because they communicate with each other and they can drive eyeballs to any network or delivery system that exists.”
